Demi Moore Biography

Demi Moore was born on November 11, 1962 in Roswell, New Mexico as Demetria Gene Guynes. She spent her early years in a small town in Pennsylvania. As a child, Demi Moore had an unstable family life – her father Charles Harmon leaving her mother after a 2-month marriage even before she was born. Demi Moore took on her stepfather’s surname on her birth certificate. Unfortunately, her stepfather Danny Guynes committed suicide in 1980. Demi’s parents were alcoholics, who often beat and fought each other.

In 1976, Demi Moore and her family settled in L.A. At age 16, her friend Nastassja Kinski persuaded her to quit school to become an actress like herself. She met and married songwriter Freddy Moore in 1979, which ended in divorce on 1985. Demi kept the last name Moore.

After quitting Hollywood Fairfax High School, Demi Moore worked as pin-up girl for European photographers, while working at a collection agency. She posed (full frontal) nude in the early 80’s, but were left unnoticed until German and North American magazines published them when she became a star.

Demi Moore’s film debut was in the 1982 film, Parasite. However, she became widely known in the ABS soap, General Hospital between 1982 and 1983. By early 90s, Demi Moore starred in several box-office hits, including Ghosts, Indecent Proposal, Disclosure, A Few Good Men and Hunchback of Notre Dame, which gave her the $10-million salary mark.

Unfortunately, Demi Moore also appeared in several commercially unsuccessful movies in the mid-90s, including The Juror, The Scarlet Letter, Striptease and G.I. Jane. When she starred and produced the three-part series about abortion, “If these walls could talk”, she was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress. After a break from her acting career, Demi Moore returned on screen to play the villain in Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle.

Demi Moore has raised controversy in August of 1991 when she posed nude during pregnancy on the cover of Vanity Fair. She has three children with ex-husband Bruce Willis. She is now married to Ashton Kutcher and changed her last name to Kutcher two years after their marriage. However, Demi Moore continues to use Moore in her professional life and acting roles.
